Derek Sherron

Derek Sherron is the current Director of Media Relations at Epic Records. Derek has over 10 years of experience in the music industry, with a focus on publicity and media relations. Derek has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Mariah Carey, OutKast, Jennifer Lopez, Ozzy Osbourne, Sade, Fiona Apple, Rick Ross, Judas Priest, DJ Khaled, Camila Cabello, Meghan Trainor, Future, Travi$ Scott, Fifth Harmony, French Montana, 21 Savage, Sara Bareilles, Jennifer Hudson, A Great Big World, Jidenna, Zara Larsson, Kodie Shane, and many others.

Derek began their career in the music industry as an Account Executive at Press Here Publicity, where they worked with a variety of clients in the entertainment industry. Derek then spent four years as Senior Director of Media Relations at The Chamber Group, a leading entertainment public relations firm. In their current role at Epic Records, Derek is responsible for developing and executing publicity campaigns for the label's active roster of artists across all genres of music. Derek also works closely with the marketing and promotions team to secure media coverage and create press materials such as EPKs, bios, press releases, and pitch copy. Derek has built strong relationships with members of the media and influencer community and is always looking for new ways to promote Epic's artists and connect them with their fans.

Derek Sherron studied music theory and composition at the University of Miami from 2005 to 2009, where they were the 2009 outstanding graduate for music theory and composition. Derek then studied music composition at the New England Conservatory from 2009 to 2011, graduating summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Derek also studied music composition at the École Normale de Musique de Paris in 2009.
