Diederik Lugtigheid is an accomplished professional in the mining automation sector with extensive experience in leadership positions. Currently serving as the General Manager for Surface Mining Automation - Haulage at Epiroc, Diederik oversees the development of the Open Autonomous Haulage System and manages global operations from centers in Utah and Western Australia. Diederik also leads the world's first interoperable autonomous haulage project at Roy Hill, focusing on converting a mixed fleet of trucks into autonomous vehicles. Previous roles include President of ASI Mining, Vice President at Komatsu Latinoamérica, and Director of Technology at Komatsu Chile, as well as significant contributions at Caterpillar, Haultrax, and Rio Tinto Iron Ore, where Diederik managed pioneering autonomous mining operations. Diederik holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MSc in Mining Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
