Francesco Fraternali

Senior Research Engineer at EpiSci

Francesco Fraternali is a Senior Research Engineer at EpiSys Science, Inc. since February 2021, focusing on the development of artificial intelligence algorithms for swarm control of unmanned drones utilizing multi-agent reinforcement learning for commercial and defense applications. Prior to this role, Francesco was a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of California, San Diego from October 2014 to February 2021. Francesco's research experience includes positions as a Research Assistant at the University of Bologna, examining power consumption and thermal control in high-performance server platforms, and as a Research Consultant at CINECA, working on energy efficiency in supercomputers. Earlier experience includes software development internships at General Impianti srl and research at UCLA, focusing on machine learning techniques for activity monitoring. Francesco holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC San Diego, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bologna.
