Elizabeth W. Fitzsimons has a bachelor's degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they obtained between 1991 and 1995. Elizabeth W. pursued further studies at American University, where they completed a master's degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from 1996 to 1997. Additionally, in 1993, Elizabeth participated in a semester abroad program at the Spanish-American Institute in Seville, Spain, concentrating on Politics, Art History, and Literature.
