Donald Graham

Donald Graham has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Donald started their career as an Actuarial Assistant at Southern Life in 1992 and then moved on to work as a Software Developer at Electronic Trading Solutions from 1997 to 1999. In 1999, they became an IT Manager at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme in Cape Town, where they led a team of software developers and systems engineers.

In 2000, Donald joined Flextronics Design as a Software Engineer and worked there for seven years. During their time at Flextronics, they gained experience in various software projects, including electronic banking systems and telecommunications protocol implementations. Donald highlighted the importance of a disciplined approach to software development at the company.

From 2006 to 2007, Donald served as a Software Architect at Rocketseed, where they led a team of developers and focused on maintaining and improving an email branding product. Donald then joined MWEB in 2007 as a Software Architect, where they primarily focused on the development of a message bus and a business process/workflow system.

In 2009, they co-founded Yila Consulting, where they served as a Director and provided software engineering consultation for various clients, including start-up companies, a telecommunications company, and a financial institution.

From 2011 to 2019, Donald worked as a System Architect at VASTech, initially as a consultant and then full-time. Donald was involved in every aspect of the development of VASTech's distributed, high-performance network recording system. Their responsibilities included hardware and operating system selection, programming language selection (Go), and designing for fault tolerance and high availability.

Donald is currently working as a Software Engineer at Equal Experts since 2019.

Donald Graham attended the University of Cape Town from 1988 to 1991, earning a degree in B.Bus.Sc with a major in Actuarial Science.
