Laquarria Nevins has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Alabama State University and a master’s in social work from Troy University in Montgomery. She has provided assistance to incarcerated people and people living in poverty for over two decades. Before joining EJI in 2022, she assisted indigent people facing prosecution as a social worker with the Office of the Public Defender in Montgomery, helped women and children as house manager for the Family Sunshine Center, and ran re-entry programs in Alabama.
