Ziad Makkawi

Ziad Makkawi is the Founder and CEO of Equiam. Ziad has over 25 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry.

Makkawi was previously the CEO of Qatar First Bank (QFB), a private equity and wealth management focused merchant bank. Ziad was responsible for developing the bank's PE and wealth management businesses, and successfully took the bank public on the Qatar Stock Exchange.

Prior to QFB, Makkawi was the Managing Director of Middle East Capital Group (MECG), a regional investment bank focused on the MENA region. Ziad was responsible for executing debt and equity capital markets transactions, and was the first firm out of the region to be lead managers on international bond offerings and IPO's. Ziad also served on the board of directors.

Makkawi has also served as the CEO of Istithmar World, Algebra Capital, and Dubai Bank. Ziad is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.

Ziad Makkawi has an MBA in Finance & International Business from NYU Stern School of Business, a Masters in International and Public Affairs from Columbia SIPA, and a BA in Economics & Business from Rice University.
