Zainab Taonga Chirwa is a Governance & Policy Researcher at the Equiano Institute, with experience as Chairperson of Effective Altruism UCT and as an Immigration Compliance Contractor at the University of Cape Town's International Academic Programs Office. Zainab conducted immigration compliance checks and enhanced regulatory adherence for international students and staff. Zainab has also worked as a Market Research Analyst Intern at BriefCo, focusing on regulatory risks in African markets, and served as a Student Legal Intern at The Commercial Law Club, assisting with legal research for AI technology startups. Additional experience includes acting as a TV & Radio Personality for Madina Institute South Africa, promoting community initiatives, and directing the Orange The World Youth Summit, where Zainab developed workshop curricula and training programs. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography and Legal Theory from Rhodes University.
