Matthew Ritter

Senior Vice President Corporate Development at Equillium

Matthew Ritter has diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Matthew began their career at The Scripps Research Institute as a Staff Scientist/Visiting Investigator in 2005 and stayed with the institute until 2012. In 2008, Matthew joined EyeCyte, Inc., where they served as the Founding Head of Research and Development until 2012. Matthew then returned to The Scripps Research Institute in 2012 and worked in Strategic Alliances, Business Development & Licensing until 2016.

In 2016, Matthew joined La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company and held the positions of Business Development & Licensing from 2016 to 2017, and later became the Head of Business Development & Licensing from 2017 to 2019.

Their most recent role, starting in February 2020, is with Equillium, Inc., where Matthew serves as the Vice President and later Senior Vice President of Corporate Development.

Matthew Ritter holds a B.S. degree in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine. Matthew further pursued their education at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Matthew also engaged in Postdoctoral Studies in Ophthalmology/Experimental Medicine at Scripps Research. Additionally, Matthew obtained certifications such as VC University ONLINE and Certified Licensing Professional from Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc.
