Elmer Shikama

Elmer Shikama is an experienced mining professional with a robust background in operations management, planning, geology, and geotechnics. Currently serving as Gerente de Operações de Mina, Planejamento, Geologia e Geotecnia at Equinox Gold Corp., since May 2023, Elmer has held various senior roles in mining operations and management across multiple companies, including First Bauxite and DEV Mineração. With a career beginning in 2006 as an Engenheiro de Minas at Mineração Rio do Norte, Elmer has progressively advanced through managerial positions at companies such as Norsk Hydro, Alcoa, and Anglo American. Elmer holds a degree in Mining Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and several postgraduate qualifications, including an MBA in Project Management and an MBA in Industrial Management with a focus on Mining from FGV. Additionally, Elmer completed a postgraduate course in Geotechnics and Safety of Dams and Piles in 2023.
