Paul Asaro

Paul Asaro has a diverse background in finance and accounting. Paul currently works for Equiteq as the VP and Controller since October 2019. Prior to that, they held the role of Controller at Telsey Advisory Group from September 2016 to October 2019. In this role, Paul led the finance team, managed the monthly close process, and handled regulatory interactions and audits for multiple entities. Paul also upgraded functions and streamlined processes to improve efficiency.

Before Telsey Advisory Group, Paul worked as a Controller - Broker Dealer at Third Avenue Management from July 2015 to September 2016. Paul was responsible for GL entries, reconciliations, regulatory reports, and lead the annual audit. Paul also modernized workflows and accounting systems to enhance productivity.

Earlier in their career, Paul was the US Controller at StormHarbour Securities LP from May 2010 to July 2015, where they managed a team and handled all entries, reporting, and regulatory filings for the broker-dealer entity. Paul was also the Head of Finance at XShares Advisors LLC from October 2007 to May 2010, overseeing finance functions and maintaining detailed financial models and forecasts.

Paul started their career as a Mutual Fund Accountant at Bank of New York from November 2004 to July 2006 and a Financial Analyst at The Ayco Company, LLC from January 2001 to October 2002.

Throughout their career, Paul has demonstrated strong expertise in financial management, regulatory compliance, and process improvement.

Paul Asaro's education history begins in 1992 when they attended Niskayuna High School, where they did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. Following high school, they pursued higher education at Fairfield University from 1996 to 2000. During this time, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in International Business.

Later, Paul Asaro attended Saint John's University - Peter J. Tobin College of Business from 2003 to 2006. There, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree specializing in International Business.

In addition to their formal education, Paul Asaro obtained certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In 2013, they received the FINRA Series 27 FINOP certification from FINRA. The following year, in July 2014, they acquired the FINRA Series 99 certification, also through FINRA.
