Pieter Mertens

Pieter Mertens is an experienced healthcare professional with a strong educational background and extensive teaching and clinical roles. Currently serving as a Point of Care Ultrasound instructor at The PoCUS Course and Coordinator for EmergenSEA@RYCB, Pieter also holds various positions within the European Resuscitation Council, including ERC Generic Course instructor, Course director, and instructor for various life support courses. As a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at UZA, Pieter contributes to multiple committees and educational initiatives. Pieter is also a lecturer at UAntwerpen and Thomas More, focusing on skills labs for medical and nursing students. Currently pursuing a master's degree at Maastricht University, Pieter aims to enhance educational practices in the health professions through critical evaluation and innovative course design.
