Thomas Schirmer

Thomas Schirmer is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the insurance industry, currently in retirement since March 2024. A Senior Consultant for Special Assignments at ERGO International AG since September 2017, Thomas previously held the position of Managing Director at ERGO Group AG from May 2001, leading operations across Spain, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Russia, and the Baltic States while also participating in various mergers and acquisitions. Prior to this, Thomas was a Member of the Board of Management at Alte Leipziger Europa AG, focusing on new market development in Eastern Europe, and held similar roles at Compania de Seguros Chilena Consolidada S.A. and Companhia de Seguros Metropole, managing international business and commercial activities. Educational qualifications include a Diplom Kaufmann from Goethe University Frankfurt and additional management training from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, along with specialized training in corporate insurance and various international traineeships.
