John Cumbo has a diverse work experience in the field of information technology. John started their career in 2000 as a Technical Support Engineer at Ingram Micro and worked there until 2003. In 2003, they joined the Erie County Medical Center Corporation where they held various roles. John began as a Network Engineer, responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a Cisco infrastructure. John then served as a PACS Administrator from 2006 to 2009. From 2008 onwards, John held the position of Information Technology Director, managing network, systems, technical support, and telecommunication teams. John also played a key role in researching, designing, and implementing new technologies to achieve departmental and corporate goals. In 2020, they became the Interim Chief Information Officer before being promoted to Vice President of Information Technology in September 2022.

John Cumbo attended the University at Buffalo from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree. John'sfield of study at this time included Italian Language, Arts and Literature, as well as Biology. Following this, from 2003 to 2006, John pursued their Post Graduate degree at the University of Liverpool, specializing in Information Technology.
