Joonas Strang

Joonas Strang has extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Joonas began their career as a Deck Apprentice at VG-Shipping Ltd. in 2016. Joonas also worked as a Deckhand at Kokkolan Tourism Ltd. and Pidä Saaristo Siistinä Ry in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Joonas then joined Godby Shipping Ab as an Ordinary Seaman in 2017, followed by roles at VG-Shipping / Meriaura Group and VG-Shipping Ltd. as an Ordinary Seaman and Chief Officer from 2017 to 2020. In 2018, they assumed the position of Chief Officer at VG-Shipping Ltd. Joonas continued their career at VG-Shipping / Meriaura Group as a 2nd Officer and later as Chief Officer until 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Chief Officer at ESL Shipping Ltd.

Joonas Strang completed their Bachelor's degree in Maritime Management at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences - SAMK from 2014 to 2019. Prior to that, they attended Pietarsaaren lukio from 2010 to 2013, although no degree or field of study was specified. In terms of certifications, Joonas obtained the Chief Mate Unlimited certification in December 2020 from Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto Traficom / Transport- och kommunikationsverket Traficom. Joonas also obtained the Master Baltic Sea and North Sea, GT less than 500 certification in December 2020 from the same institution. Earlier certifications include Deck Officer in November 2018 and Watchman Deck/Engine in May 2017, both from Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto Traficom / Transport- och kommunikationsverket Traficom. Additionally, Joonas completed the Dynamic Positioning DP Induction Operator Course in December 2017 from The Nautical Institute.
