Karri Latvala

Karri Latvala has extensive work experience in the maritime industry. Karri started their career as a Trainee Rating deck/engine at Bore Ltd in 2015. Karri then worked as a Cadet/Deck officer trainee at Wasaline, RABN - Rederi Ab Nathalie, and Finnlines. In 2017, they joined Prima Shipping Group as an Ordinary Seaman and also served as a Cadet/Deck officer trainee at Finnlines. In 2019, they worked as an Ordinary Seaman at Rauma Cata Oy and Tallink Silja Oy. Later in 2019, they joined Godby Shipping Ab as an Ordinary Seaman. From 2020 to 2021, Karri worked at Langh Companies as a Chief Officer, responsible for operative management, ship's security officer, sea watch, and cargo operations. Finally, since 2021, they have been working at ESL Shipping Ltd as a Chief Officer, managing vessels, planning work schedules, overseeing cargo operations, and serving as a ship's security officer. Karri'smain cargoes include dry bulk materials such as iron ore pellets, limestone, pig iron, coal, coke, wood chips, and slag.

Karri Latvala's education history begins in 2012 when they obtained the Sotilasveneenkuljettajan kirja from the Finnish Defence Forces. In 2016, they acquired the Watchkeeping Rating certification from Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto Traficom. The following year, in 2017, they completed the Training Programme of ISPS Code VI/5. In 2018, Karri obtained the General Operator's Certificate (GOC) and the Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tankers V/1-1.2 certifications. In 2019, they accomplished the Deck Officer II/1 certification. Karri obtained the Basic Training VI/1 certification in 2020, together with the Survival Crafts and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats VI/2.1. In 2021, they attained the Chief Officer II/2 certification. Continuing their education, Karri pursued a Bachelor's degree of Maritime Management, Maritime Master from the Satakunta University of Applied Sciences - SAMK, which they completed in 2020. Currently, from 2021 to 2024, they are working towards a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Engineering, Maritime Technology at the same institution. Additionally, Karri has obtained various certifications in recent years, including the Chief Officer II/2, Advanced Fire Fighting VI/3, Designated Security Duties VI/6.4, Ship Security Officer VI/5, Charge of Medical Care VI/4.2, Master II/2, and the Endorsement of Certificate General Radio Operator (GOC). All of these certifications were obtained from Liikenne- ja viestintävirasto Traficom.
