Matthieu Bellon

Matthieu Bellon is an experienced economist currently working at the European Stability Mechanism since January 2023. Previously, Matthieu served as an economist at the International Monetary Fund from September 2016 to January 2023, contributing significantly to fiscal affairs, including climate change policy, Covid crisis responses, and fiscal negotiations for countries like Armenia and Haiti. Matthieu's academic background includes a PhD in Economics from Columbia University, where roles included teaching assistantship and instructorship, and research assistance, alongside prior internships at SGCIB and Banque de France that involved financial analysis and economic modeling. Matthieu holds a master’s degree in economics from EHESS and a degree in statistics and economics from ENSAE Paris.
