Douglas Coene has a long and varied career in the energy industry. In 2001, they began as a Consultant for Industrial IT Strategy at Comcept Canada Inc. Douglas then moved to OSIsoft Canada in 2003 as a Product Specialist. In 2006, they completed an internship as a Strategy Consultant at Desjardins. In 2007, they became the Marketing and Consulting Manager at Pimsoft Inc., where they were responsible for developing Visiant Pimsoft's industrial automation software service and solution business outside Italy. In 2009, they became the Managing Director at Definit Consulting, where they provided consulting services in production and supply chain IT strategy, software package selection, change management consulting, project management and consulting, and M&A due diligence. In 2010, they moved to Accenture as the Energy Director Middle East. From 2015 to 2018, they were a Senior Manager at Accenture in the Nordics Resources group, focusing on worker/plant digitalisation, IOT, supply chain improvement, asset management, robotic process automation/RPA, GDPR in energy (oil & gas upstream, refining, retail), and utilities. In 2019, they became an Energy Industry Advisor, offering a unique blend of global experience in oil and gas, electricity, and renewable energy. Finally, they began their current role as Chief Customer Officer - Grid Vision at eSmart Systems in 2020, where they are responsible for Professional Services/Customer Success, Support services, Partnerships, and R&I portfolio, as well as leading some Sales territories in Europe and in emerging markets.
Douglas Coene's education history includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering (Polymers option) from McMaster University, which they completed between 1993 and 1997. Douglas then went on to pursue an MBA from HEC Montréal, which they completed in 2006, and an MBA from the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School, which they also completed in 2006, with a focus on Marketing, Strategy, and Complexity.
