Sonsoles Bekkevold-Cabanis

Sonsoles Bekkevold-Cabanis has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Sonsoles is currently serving as the Head of Legal at eSmart Systems since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Non-Governmental Advisor at ICN International Competition Network starting in December 2021. From June 2021 to December 2022, they worked as a Legal Counsel at Thales. Before that, they worked as an External Legal Advisor at Legal Services from January 2020 to February 2021, specializing in EEA/EU Law, competition and public procurement, and energy. Sonsoles also worked as a Lawyer at Simonsen Vogt Wiig from July 2019 to January 2020, where they focused on energy and LNG offshore project developments. Sonsoles served as a Lawyer at Contract Attorney, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, Slaughter & May from December 2015 to April 2017, specializing in international arbitration disputes, competition law, and energy oil & gas. Sonsoles also worked as a Competition Lawyer at Clifford Chance LLP from April 2015 to November 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Lawyer at Contract Attorney, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom from January 2015 to March 2015. Prior to that, Sonsoles was a Lawyer at De Carlos Remón from January 2011 to December 2013, specializing in EU/competition law and regulatory/administrative law. Sonsoles began their career as a General State Attorney (Trainee/Lawyer) at the Spanish General State Attorney Unit from September 2004 to December 2010, where they focused on EU law, competition law, public procurement, public concessions, state aid, and administrative law.

Sonsoles Bekkevold-Cabanis has a diverse education history spanning over several years. In 1997 to 2003, they attended Universidad CEU San Pablo and obtained a Degree in Law specialized in European Law. In 2002 to 2003, they pursued further studies at the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, earning a Diplôme d’Études Juridiques et Economiques de l’Unión Européenne (Degree in Legal and Economic Studies of the European Union) with a focus on Droit (Law). Sonsoles Bekkevold-Cabanis pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) in Competition Law at the Brussels School of Competition (BSC), affiliated with the University of Liège, from 2014 to 2015. In 2021, they attended Sciences Po to complete a course on Politics and Economics of International Energy. Additionally, they obtained certification in "European Business Law: Competing in Europe" from Lund University in September 2017.
