Samuel Oehlert is a security engineer who has worked in the field for over five years. Samuel began their career as a Linux systems administrator, interning at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications from May 2010 to January 2012. In this role, they were responsible for administering all systems for Security Operations, with a focus on RHEL/CentOS systems. Samuel also implemented Devops strategies to improve efficiency and automate repetitive tasks.

In January 2012, Oehlert began working as a security engineer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. In this role, they were responsible for responding to security alerts and incidents, managing the OSSEC host-based IDS implementation, and administering Gigamon traffic aggregators. Samuel also provided input and feedback on security architecture plans.

In July 2015, Oehlert left the National Center for Supercomputing Applications to take a position as a security engineer at ESnet. In this role, they are responsible for bro IDS cluster performance tuning, Splunk data analysis, and Qualys vulnerability scanning and management.

Samuel Oehlert's educational career began with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts & Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Samuel then went on to earn a Certification from GIAC in GPEN, followed by a Certification from GIAC in GCUX. Samuel also holds a Certification from GIAC in GSEC.

Samuel Oehlert reports to Adam Slagell, Chief Security Officer. Samuel Oehlert works with Scott Campbell - Senior Security Engineer, Patrick Storm - Security Engineer, and Michael Dopheide - Senior Security Engineer.
