Fernando Krell

VP, Engineering at Espresso Systems

Fernando Krell is currently the VP of Engineering at Espresso Systems. Fernando has previously worked as a Senior Cryptography Engineer at eian from January 2019 to November 2020. Before that, they were a part-time professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile from March 2016 to July 2018, where they instructed IIC3253 Cryptography and Computational Security. Fernando has also worked as a researcher and engineer at Dreamlab Technologies from January 2016 to December 2018. Prior to that, they interned at SRI International from June 2014 to August 2014, where they researched and designed a low-leakage private search mechanism supporting boolean queries. Additionally, Fernando interned at Bell Laboratories from June 2012 to August 2012, where they designed and developed BlindSeer: A Scalable Private DBMS. Fernando has also interned at Synopsys from December 2007 to January 2008 and Adexus from December 2006 to January 2007. Fernando's first internship was at Servicio de Registro Civil e Identificación from December 2005 to January 2006.

Fernando Krell received their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from Columbia University. Prior to that, they received their Master of Philosophy from Columbia University and their Master of Science in Computer Science from Columbia University. Fernando also holds an engineering professional degree in computer science from Universidad de Chile and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Universidad de Chile.

Fernando Krell reports to Ben Fisch, CEO. They work with Benedikt Bünz - Chief Scientist, Jill Gunter - Chief Strategy Officer, and Michael Mosier - General Counsel.
