Al Hurley

Al Hurley is the current COO of West Market at Essentia Health. Al has over 20 years of experience in healthcare, including serving as a Chief Executive Officer, Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, and Executive Director.

Hurley began their career in healthcare as Chief Executive Officer of CARDIOLOGISTS, P.C. Al then served as Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Medical Practices at St. Joseph Health System before becoming the Executive Director of Billings Clinic. In 2006, they were recruited to Sanford Health to serve as their VP/Chief Operations Officer.

In their current role at Essentia Health, Al is responsible for strategy, growth, and operational performance for the entire West Region. This includes overseeing budgets exceeding 1 billion dollars, site management and development, strategic planning, physician recruitment, business development, and service excellence. Al is also responsible for Enterprise standardization, strategic development and implementation for EPIC, IT, and operational performance.

Al Hurley has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Iowa and is certified from the American College of Healthcare Executives in FACHE and MGMA in FACMPE.

Their manager is William Heegaard, President, West Market. Al Hurley works with and Richard Vetter - Chief Medical Officer, West Market.
