Jonathan Schifferes

Jonathan Schifferes is a seasoned housing policy expert currently serving as the Head of Housing and Garden Communities at Essex County Council since January 2023. Prior experience includes roles as Housing Policy Manager at the Greater London Authority, where efforts were focused on improving housing outcomes for London residents, and as Area Manager (South) collaborating with various stakeholders to increase affordable housing in the capital. Schifferes also held the position of Associate Director at the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA), where responsibilities included directing public services and leading research for the RSA City Growth Commission. Previous consulting roles involved managing social research projects at nef consulting and providing planning consultancy at Strategic Planning Advice. Schifferes holds a BA in Geography from the University of Cambridge and furthered urban planning studies as a Herchel Smith Scholar at Harvard University.
