Yanghsin Wang

Yanghsin Wang has extensive experience in the software engineering field, with a career spanning over 20 years. Yanghsin currently works as a Senior Software Engineer at Essex, an Emmes Company. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Full Stack Developer at ICF from November 2020 to January 2023.

From December 2017 to November 2020, Wang worked as a Sr. Software Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology, where they were a contractor at the National Institute of Health/National Cancer Institute/Developmental Therapeutics Branch. In this role, they designed, developed, and enhanced Java applications and batch processes, provided system administration for Linux servers and various servers, and offered technical recommendations and solutions for system vulnerabilities.

Before that, Wang worked as a Software Engineer at TouchNet Information Systems, Inc. from October 2016 to August 2017. Here, they led the Liferay Portal Technology Research Project, utilizing technologies such as Java, JavaScript, React, Liferay, and more. Yanghsin also mentored team members and worked on various tasks, including portlet implementation, customization, user migration, and developing proof of concept portlets.

Prior to TouchNet, Wang worked as a Senior Application Developer at USDA/SAIC/Clarus Group from May 2013 to September 2016. In this role, they worked on several Java/J2EE projects, developing enterprise applications for USDA Farm Service Agency. Yanghsin also refactored legacy applications, improved system performance, and provided real-time production support.

Wang began their career as a Jr. Software Engineer at ABC Supply Co., Inc. from April 2010 to April 2013. Here, they analyzed, designed, developed, and maintained Java/J2EE web applications and web services, implementing various enhancements that improved payroll calculations, sales, and operation productivity.

Before joining ABC Supply, Wang worked as an E-Commerce Specialist/Technology Coordinator at The Arts of Life Inc. from February 2009 to March 2010. Yanghsin collaborated with the marketing team, provided E-Business solutions, and maintained and upgraded networks and related facilities.

During their early career, Wang gained experience as a Java Consultant at Sun Microsystems/Frontline Technology from November 2004 to July 2007, where they designed, developed, tested, and deployed web enterprise applications. Yanghsin also worked as a Java Consultant at Agenda Consulting Co., Ltd. from November 2002 to October 2004, working on various phases of the software development life cycle and analyzing the feasibility of online ticketing systems.

Wang started their career as an R&D Software Engineer at KYE Systems Corp in September 2001.

Yanghsin Wang earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science from Tamkang University between 1995 and 1999. Later, from 2007 to 2009, Yanghsin completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Information Technology & Management from the Illinois Institute of Technology, achieving a GPA of 3.8/4.0 in the field of study. In addition to these academic qualifications, Yanghsin holds several certifications related to Java programming. They obtained the Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 8 Programmer certification from Oracle in December 2019. Yanghsin also holds certifications from Oracle and Sun Microsystems, including Java Platform and Enterprise Edition development, web services, web component development, as well as the Sun Microsystems Certified Java Programmer and Sun Microsystems Certified Web Component Developer designations.
