Julia Luster

Julia Luster serves as the VP of HR and Assistant General Counsel at Essex Property Trust since August 2023, having previously held roles in the organization as Senior Director & Assistant General Counsel, HR, and Assistant General Counsel, HR Compliance. Prior to Essex Property Trust, Julia was with Guaranteed Rate as VP & Assistant General Counsel, Labor & Employment, and VP & Senior Counsel, Labor & Employment, providing employment advice and counsel across California and nationally, alongside litigation in various courts. Previous experience includes positions as a Labor and Employment Associate at Ogletree Deakins and Carothers DiSante & Freudenberger LLP, and as an Associate Attorney at Seyfarth Shaw LLP and Bursor & Fisher, P.A. Julia Luster began the legal career as a law clerk and in-house post-bar legal fellow, with a solid academic foundation holding a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis - School of Law, a Master of Arts from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA.
