José Gabriel Gómez Zuñíga

José Gabriel Gómez Zuñíga has a strong background in finance and auditing. José Gabriel currently works at Establishment Labs as the Corporate Audit & Compliance manager, where they are responsible for promoting a sustainable internal control environment and ensuring SOX compliance. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Statutory Accountant at Pfizer, where they prepared financial reports and performed variance analysis. José Gabriel also has experience as an Auditor Senior at Deloitte Costa Rica, overseeing financial audits and evaluating control effectiveness. Additionally, they worked as a Senior Accountant at Western Union, where they analyzed financial reports, collaborated with internal and external auditors, and managed key account reconciliations. José Gabriel began their career at KPMG, where they held various roles, including Encargado II and Encargado I, involving financial audit planning, control development, and substantive testing. Overall, José Gabriel Gómez Zuñíga has a strong track record in financial analysis, auditing, and ensuring compliance.

José Gabriel Gómez Zuñíga has a comprehensive education history. José Gabriel started their academic journey in 2008 at the Universidad de Costa Rica UCR, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Contabilidad (Accounting) until 2015. Concurrently, in 2013, they enrolled in the Universidad Estatal a Distancia de Costa Rica, where they worked towards obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Banca y servicios financieros (Banking and Financial Services), which they are expected to complete in 2026.

In terms of certifications, José Gabriel has acquired multiple qualifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2012, they completed the "Model Thinking" course offered by Coursera. In 2016, they obtained the "Contador Público Autorizado" certification from the Colegio de Contadores Públicos de Costa Rica, demonstrating their expertise as an authorized public accountant. Furthermore, in 2021, they achieved three certifications from AuditBoard: "Control Testing & Documentation," "Creating & Editing Narratives," and "Reviewing Control Data & Testing Results." Lastly, in 2023, José Gabriel earned the "Creating & Managing WorkStream Projects" certification from AuditBoard.

Looking ahead, José Gabriel has plans to pursue further education. José Gabriel intends to enroll in the Universidad de Costa Rica UCR once again, starting in 2023, to obtain a Master's degree in Finanzas y Riesgo (Finance and Risk), which they are expected to complete in 2026.
