María de Lourdes Eguren Martí, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in various roles related to risk management, finance processes, internal control, and auditing. María de Lourdes is currently working as the Global Risk Management Director at ESTEVE since February 2020. Prior to that, they served as an Associate Professor at Fundació Tecnocampus Mataró-Maresme starting from June 2015.
Before their current role, María worked at Bunge, where they held two positions. From November 2016 to February 2020, they worked as the COSO and Finance Processes Manager EMEA & Asia, and from April 2014 to October 2016, they were the SOX Controller EMEA. In these roles, they were responsible for internal control coordination, risk management, project management, and training.
From March 2010 to April 2014, María worked at Novartis as Business Process Controlling, where they focused on self-assessment, testing, and improvement of processes and internal controls. María de Lourdes also collaborated with regional teams in defining new internal control frameworks.
Prior to Novartis, María worked at Visteon, where they held two positions. From January 2007 to March 2010, they worked as Finance Controlling, handling analysis, financial reporting, and control functions. From June 2006 to March 2010, they served as the Internal Control Coordinator for Spain, managing SOX audits, procedures, and risk identification.
Earlier in their career, María worked as an Auditor at Deloitte from September 2004 to June 2006, gaining experience in enterprise risk services. María de Lourdes also worked as a Project Leader at Prestige Software from September 2003 to July 2004, where they managed an IT development team for the hotel and restaurants sector. María's professional journey began with an internship at EHPT in August-September 1999.
María de Lourdes Eguren Martí, Ph.D. has a diverse education history. María de Lourdes began their academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Systems Engineering from Universidad Metropolitana in Venezuela between 1997 and 2002. María de Lourdes'sstudies in Mathematics focused on applied maths, statistics, and financial models, while their Systems Engineering degree covered systems theory, consultancy, IT, and data analysis.
María de Lourdes further expanded their knowledge by pursuing a Master's in Telecom: Ebusiness & New Business Models from Universidad de Cantabria in Spain from 2002 to 2003. This degree encompassed finances, telecom, e-business, and enterprise valuation.
In 2007 to 2009, María de Lourdes Eguren Martí attended Institut Gestalt, where they obtained a Master Practitioner certification in Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP). María de Lourdes'sstudies in Gestalt therapy, NLP techniques, and coaching enhanced their skills in the field.
María de Lourdes returned to Universitat de Barcelona, Spain from 2009 to 2010 to complete a Master of Research (MRes.) in Business Administration. This program deepened their understanding of business administration principles.
Continuing their education at Universitat de Barcelona, they embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Business Administration spanning from 2010 to 2015. This rigorous program allowed their to further specialize in the field.
In addition to their formal education, María de Lourdes Eguren Martí has pursued additional certifications such as the Oxford Women's Leadership Development Programme from Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford in 2020 and the Certified Shortsea Logistics - MOST Management from Escola Europea - Intermodal Transport in 2018.
