Brian Schmidt

Brian Schmidt, PhD, is a seasoned Staff Applied Scientist at Etsy since March 2021, with prior experience as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer and Data Scientist at iHeartRadio. Brian has a robust background in machine learning applications aimed at enhancing user engagement, demonstrated during a tenure at Insight Data Science where a churn prediction tool was developed. Previous roles include Postdoctoral Researcher at UC Berkeley, focusing on retinal disease detection and treatment, and Graduate Student at the University of Washington, where Brian explored the mechanisms of human color vision.
