Alessandro Foresi

Software Programmer at EUMETSAT

Alessandro Foresi has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Alessandro began their career in 1995 at Sistemi Informativi, where they worked as a Programmer and System Administrator, providing support for IBM OS/2 and developing software for various clients. In 1999, they joined Advanced Computer Systems A.C.S. Srl as a Programmer, focusing on Java servlets and Oracle database integration.

In 2000, Foresi moved to Agorà Telematica, where they worked as a Unix System Administrator and Programmer, maintaining DNS and providing system administration support for various Unix systems. Alessandro then returned to Advanced Computer Systems A.C.S. Srl in 2003 and worked as a Software Programmer, developing real-time satellite imagery display software using Java and C++.

In 2005, Foresi joined EUMETSAT as a Unix System Administrator and Programmer, where they supported the MetOp-A project and later transitioned to roles as a Software Programmer and Software Engineer. At EUMETSAT, they were responsible for integration and maintenance of software for the EUMETSAT Polar System Ground Segment, including product processing facilities for the MetOp and NOAA missions. Alessandro also worked on the integration of MSG MPEF level 2 processors and other projects, using languages such as C, C++98/11, and shell scripting, and utilizing various technologies such as Emscripten, HTML5/JS, and container technologies.

Throughout their career, Foresi has demonstrated strong technical skills in programming languages such as Java, C++, C, and shell scripting, as well as experience with various operating systems, including AIX, Linux, RedHat, and Windows. Alessandro has also worked with software development tools and frameworks such as Swing, AWT, Qt, and GitLab CI/CD.

Alessandro Foresi attended Istituto Professionale Industria e Artigianato "Ezio Vanoni" Rieti from 1986 to 1991. Alessandro pursued a degree in Electronics and Electrical Technician during their time at the secondary school.
