Alexander Gerling has a diverse work experience in the field of space engineering. Alexander started their career in 2012 as a Scientific Assistant at the Institute for Space Systems at the University of Stuttgart. From 2013 to 2014, they worked as a Program Consultant and Quality Manager at Industrieanlagen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. In 2014, they joined DLR as an Instrument Engineer, where they worked on the METimage visible/infrared imager for the MetOp-SG satellites. Most recently, since 2022, they have been working at EUMETSAT as an Instrument System Engineer, specifically for the IASI-NG and Argos-4 instruments on the MetOp-SG satellites.
Alexander Gerling attended the University of Stuttgart from 2005 to 2012, where they earned a Diplomingenieur in Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik (Aerospace Engineering). In 2009, they also studied at Cranfield University and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Aerospace Vehicle Design in 2010.
