Julio Gutiérrez Vela

Julio Gutiérrez Vela has a diverse work experience in the aerospace industry. Julio started working as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at the Spanish Air Force in 2011, where they were responsible for designing aircraft parts and documenting fabrication and assembly procedures. In 2012, they worked as a Traslator at ETSIAE - UPM.

Julio then transitioned into the satellite industry and joined DLR GfR mbH for LSE Space GmbH in 2016 as a Junior Spacecraft Operations Engineer. In this role, they operated the space and ground segment in a 24/7 routine operation and received training for the AOCS-EPS-TCS subsystem Operation Engineer position.

In 2018, Julio joined spaceopal GmbH as a Product Assurance Engineer, where they ensured the quality and reliability of products and processes. Julio later took on the role of Galileo Spacecraft Troubleshooting Engineer, where they conducted continuous screening and reviewing of satellite observation and anomaly reports, provided expertise on service delivery observation/anomaly reports, and served as an expert satellite Engineer at satellite incident/anomaly boards. Julio also followed up on SSEG L2/L3 maintenance support investigations and reporting.

Most recently, Julio joined EUMETSAT in 2022 as an MTG Spacecraft Operations Preparation Engineer, where they are involved in preparing and coordinating spacecraft operations.

Julio Gutiérrez Vela received their Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2011. Julio then pursued a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering at the same institution, completing it in 2015. Julio also had the opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student at the University of Stuttgart in 2015, where they focused on Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering.

In addition to their formal education, Julio obtained various certifications. In 2014, they completed the "Athens, Introduction into Finite Elements and Algorithms" course at TU Delft. The same year, they also received a certification in "Nanotechnology: The Basics" from Coursera. In 2013, they obtained a certification for "An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python" from Coursera as well. Furthermore, in 2013, Julio achieved the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) from the University of Cambridge.
