Iliana Cardenes

Iliana Cardenes, PhD, serves as the Associate Director for Climate Strategy & Delivery at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) since October 2023, focusing on adaptation, resilience, climate analytics, and energy policy on international development projects. Concurrently, Iliana holds an honorary research fellowship at the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford, contributing to sustainable infrastructure research. Previous roles include Head of Climate Resilience Evidence & UN Science at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, where Iliana led the UK's scientific input to UN climate negotiations, and International Climate Science Lead at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, where efforts centered on net-zero innovation and engagement with international bodies. Iliana's academic background includes a PhD in Environmental Change from the University of Oxford and a Master's in Climate Science and Society from Columbia University.
