Ruta Merkeviciute

Ruta Merkeviciute currently serves as Head of Unit for Digital Finance at the European Banking Authority, leading a team focused on monitoring financial innovation and overseeing digital operational resilience and crypto-assets regulation. Previous experience includes a role as Director of Financial Service and Capital Markets Supervision at the Bank of Lithuania, where responsibilities encompassed leading a department for capital markets supervision and implementing strategic plans. Additionally, Ruta has held various leadership positions within the Bank of Lithuania, overseeing payment institutions and managing licensing processes. Prior experience includes a board membership at the European Securities and Markets Authority and a senior associate role at ECOVIS ProventusLaw Law Firm, specializing in commercial law and litigation. Ruta holds an Executive MBA from BMI Executive Institute and two degrees in law from Mykolas Romeris University and Aix-Marseille University.
