Liese van Gompel

Liese Van Gompel is a highly experienced professional in epidemiology and veterinary public health, currently serving as a Scientific Officer for Emerging, Food- and Vector-borne Diseases at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since May 2021. Prior to this, Liese held various academic positions at Utrecht University, including Assistant Professor in Veterinary Public Health/Epidemiology and mentoring PhD and master's students. Liese's research focused on integrating novel data analysis techniques in epidemiology and contributed to significant projects such as the EFFORT initiative. Additional roles include Senior Consultant in Data Analytics at PwC and internships with prominent organizations such as the World Health Organization and the European Food Safety Authority. Liese's educational background encompasses a PhD in Epidemiology and specialized training in Veterinary Public Health.
