Federico Milani serves as the Deputy Head of the Data Policy and Innovation Unit at the European Commission, where the focus is on enhancing the data economy within the Digital Single Market to drive jobs and societal well-being. Milani has held several key positions within the European Commission, including Deputy Head of the Data Applications & Creativity Unit, which promotes research and innovation in human-computer interfaces and the cultural and creative industries, and Deputy Head of the Cultural Heritage and Technology Enhanced Learning Unit, aimed at advancing eLearning and preserving digital cultural resources. Additionally, Milani was involved in the eContent and Safer Internet Unit, fostering the use of European digital content across various sectors. Prior to the European Commission, Milani worked as a researcher and nuclear fusion plasma shape control engineer at the Jet Joint Undertaking. Milani holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Aston University and a Dottore in Ingegneria Elettronica from the Università degli Studi di Padova.
