Lorena Boix Alonso serves as the Deputy Director General for Health at DG SANTE within the European Commission, bringing significant expertise from previous roles including Director for Digital Society, Trust & Cybersecurity at DG CONNECT and Acting Director of Policy Strategy and Outreach at the same directorate. Prior experience includes serving as Deputy Head of Cabinet to Vice-President Neelie Kroes for the Digital Agenda for Europe and holding positions within DG Competition. Additionally, Lorena worked as Deputy Director and legal coordinator at the IPR-Helpdesk, as well as a Referendaire at the Court of Justice of the European Union. Early legal experience includes work as a lawyer at Van Bael & Bellis. Lorena holds a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School and a Licence spécial en droit européen from Université libre de Bruxelles.
