Peter Van Kemseke has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Peter began their career in 1999 as an Assistant Professor of History and International Relations at the University of Leuven. Peter then moved to diplomatic training roles at NATO-Brussels and OSCE-Vienna in 2002 and 2003, respectively. In 2009, they joined the European Union and held positions as a diplomat to the EU and Cabinets of European President and as the Cabinet Vice President of the European Commission until 2018. During this time, they also served as a Deputy Chief of Cabinet for Multilateral Affairs at the Foreign Ministry in 2011. From 2018 to 2019, they worked as the Deputy Secretary General of the Belgian Foreign Ministry and as a Professor at Leuven University. In 2021, they took on a role as the Senior Officer for EU Climate and Energy Policies at the European Commission. Additionally, they have been the Chair of Fast Forward vzw since 2001. Peter Van Kemseke is currently serving as the Cabinet President of the European Commission.
Peter Van Kemseke holds a PhD in International Politics and History of International Relations from the University of Leuven, Los Angeles, Hull. Peter also obtained an M.A in International Relations from CSU Los Angeles in 1994-1995.
