Programme Coordinator, Middle East And North Africa Programme at European Council on Foreign Relations

Elsa Scholz serves as the MENA Programme Coordinator at the European Council on Foreign Relations since August 2022, having previously held roles as MENA Programme Assistant and MENA Intern within the same organization from January 2022 to April 2022. In these positions, Elsa supported policy fellows through extensive research on international influence in the Middle East. Prior experience includes serving as Advocacy Assistant at ALQST for Human Rights, focusing on human rights advocacy in Saudi Arabia, and an internship at the Europäische Akademie Bayern, engaging in political education initiatives. Elsa holds a Master of Arts in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS University of London and completed an intensive Arabic course at the Institut Français du Proche-Orient in Beirut. An earlier bachelor's degree in Near and Middle Eastern Studies was obtained from the University of Vienna.
