Peter Aarup Iversen is an experienced LULUCF and forestry expert with a strong background in climate change and land use management. Currently serving at the European Environment since March 2021, Peter previously held the position of Programme Officer and Team Lead at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat, overseeing sectoral approaches to mitigation in the LULUCF, REDD+, and Agriculture programs. Peter has also worked as an independent consultant and held several advisory roles with UNDP and the Asian Development Bank, focusing on developing national strategies to reduce emissions from deforestation and promoting sustainable land use practices. Peter holds a Master of Science in Forestry from Den Kgl. Veterinær- og Landbohøjskole and has contributed significantly to various international climate initiatives throughout a diverse career.
