Hod Energy Transition Programmes at European Investment Bank

Dirk Roos is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as Head of Department for Energy Transition Programmes and Energy Efficiency & Small Renewables at the European Investment Bank since April 2008. Previously held positions include Advisor for energy sector operations, focusing on project finance for solar and wind energy across Europe, Africa, China, and Latin America, in addition to setting up funds and managing technical assistance. Prior to EIB, Dirk Roos served as Programme Advisor for Environment and Energy at UNDP and worked as a Senior Consultant at Environmental Resources Management. Experience also includes roles at Esso Belgium and Elf Research, specializing in contaminated site management and reservoir engineering. Dirk Roos holds an EMBA from Judge Cambridge, a DEA in Reservoir Engineering from IFP-School, and a degree in Civil/Mining Engineering from KU Leuven, complemented by a foundational education in Latin-Maths at Jan van Ruusbroeckollege.
