Paul Samsonoff

Paul Samsonoff, CFA, has extensive experience in finance, particularly in alternative finance and regulatory capital optimization. Currently serving as the Head of the Alternative Finance Unit at the European Investment Fund since November 2013, Paul focuses on portfolio guarantees for innovative companies, fintechs, and SME financing, with expertise in capital relief, risk transfer, synthetic securitization, and RWA reduction. Prior roles include positions at Commerzbank AG, where responsibilities included origination in structured finance and securitized products, and at Merrill Lynch, where Paul specialized in debt capital markets for financial institutions. Additional experience includes positions at Société Générale, BNP Paribas, and IWB, with a strong foundation in equity derivatives. Paul holds a degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, complemented by earlier education at ESSCA.
