Steffen Thirstrup

Steffen Thirstrup has a diverse work experience in the medical and pharmaceutical field. Steffen is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer at the European Medicines Agency since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health Sciences since January 2012.

Steffen also held various roles at the NDA Group AB, where they served as the Director of the NDA Advisory Board from April 2014 to June 2022. Before that, they worked as a Medical Advisor & Advisory Board Member at NDA Advisory Services Ltd from March 2013 to April 2014.

Previously, Steffen held the position of Head of Division: Medicines Assessment and Clinical Trials, MD, PhD at the Danish Health and Medicines Authority from June 2011 to February 2013. Steffen also served as the Head of Institute at the Institute for Rational Pharmacotherapy from November 2009 to June 2011.

Steffen's earlier experience includes serving as the Chief Medical Officer, PhD at the Danish Medicines Agency from March 2004 to October 2009. Additionally, they worked as a Member of CHMP and CAT at the European Medicines Agency during the same period.

Steffen Thirstrup earned a PhD in Medicines/Pharmacology from Aarhus University between 1996 and 1998. Prior to that, they obtained an MD degree from Aarhus University from 1986 to 1993. Steffen also completed their high school education at Aarhus Katedralskole where they earned a student's exam degree from 1982 to 1985.
