Marit Maij is an accomplished political figure and leader currently serving as a member of the European Parliament since June 2024. Maij holds the position of chair at Taal aan Zee and has been a member of the Supervisory Board for the Samenwerkingsverband Voortgezet Onderwijs regio Leiden until July 2024. Previous roles include being the Director of ActionAid Nederland and a board member of FSC Nederland, along with serving as the chair of the Dutch National Committee at UN Women. Maij's experience also encompasses a managerial role at CNV International and diplomatic service as Special Envoy for Migration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Maij has contributed to the Council of Europe as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly, including serving as the first Vice-Chair of the Equality Committee. Academically, Maij holds multiple degrees, including a Master's in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam, a Master's in Information & Knowledge Society from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and an MBA in Business Administration from European University.
