George Pentheroudakis

George Pentheroudakis currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) since August 2020. Previously, George held the position of Professor of Oncology at the Medical School University of Ioannina from June 2010 to November 2021 and was Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Ioannina University Hospital from August 2016 to August 2020. George has also chaired the ESMO Guidelines Committee from January 2016 to July 2020 and served as the Scientific Committee Chair for the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group from October 2012 to September 2016. George's educational background includes a Doctor's Degree in Medicine from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a PhD in Medical Oncology translational research from the University of Ioannina, and a Master's in Health Care Administration from Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers. Additional qualifications include diplomas in MBA Essentials and Managerial Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science, along with a forthcoming diploma in Negotiations from the same institution.
