Anna Samsel van Haasteren

Anna Samsel van Haasteren currently serves as the Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission since February 2019. Prior to this role, Anna was the Team Leader at the Internal Market's Security of Supply Unit in DG Energy from September 2015 to January 2019, where responsibilities included negotiating new legislation related to gas supply security and addressing external gas supply issues. Anna has also coordinated state aid cases and policy within DG Competition from 2009 to August 2015, covering sectors such as transport, energy, and banking, and was involved with the Task Force for the Financial Crisis. Anna holds a State Exam in Law from European-University Viadrina, a PhD in Law focused on European energy and competition law from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, a Master in European Studies from the University of Hamburg, and a Master in Law from Uniwersytet im. Adama Mickiewicza w Poznaniu.
