Jim Burkard has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Jim began their career as a Management Consultant at Management Resource Group in 1988. Jim then moved on to work as a Manager of Human Resources at Ebbtide Corporation from 1989 to 1991, followed by a role as Director of Human Resources at Doubletree Hotel from 1991 to 1994.

In 1994, Jim transitioned into the healthcare industry by studying Clinical Nutrition and working as a freelance consultant, as well as in the retail and service industries. Jim completed a 2-year program and earned a degree in Clinical Nutrition in 1996.

Jim then pursued a Clinical Nutrition Internship at National Healthcare Corporation, where they obtained a license to practice clinical nutrition in Tennessee and passed the registration exam for the Commission on Dietetic Registration through the American Dietetic Association.

Following this, Jim established their own Private Practice called Nutrition Associates of Nashville in 1998. As the Owner and Principal, they provided nutrition education and coaching in areas such as weight management, clinical diets, sports nutrition, family practice, disease prevention, childhood nutrition, and normal nutrition until 2003.

Jim then held various leadership roles in the healthcare industry, including Senior Director of Clinical and Support Services at Saint Thomas Hospital from 1997 to 2011. In this role, they provided administrative leadership, managed budgets, negotiated and managed contract services, maintained regulatory compliance, and developed policies and procedures.

From 2011 to 2013, Jim worked at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a Patient Experience Coach. Jim coached and directed executive leadership, physicians, and management staff on issues related to the patient experience and operational goals. Jim successfully improved patient satisfaction scores and developed leadership resources.

Most recently, Jim has been working as the Director of Physician Operations and Performance Coaching at eviCore healthcare since 2013.

Jim Burkard has an extensive education history. Jim obtained a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in the years 1983-1985. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Middle Tennessee State University from 1978 to 1982. In terms of additional certifications, Jim obtained the titles of Certified Employee Performance Coach and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) from Transformation Academy in the year 2022. Jim also holds an ICF Member Badge from the International Coaching Federation since March 2021. Additionally, they completed a course on Coaching and Developing Employees from LinkedIn in 2019 and Principles of Obesity Economics from Coursera in 2012. Jim Burkard has also pursued ongoing training in LEAN Healthcare from Belmont University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition from Lipscomb University.
