Tony Hansel has an extensive work experience in the legal and telecommunications industry. Tony started their career as an Electrical and Systems Engineer at SRA International, where they analyzed and designed telecommunications networks and information systems for government agencies and private sector clients. Tony then worked as an Attorney at Swidler Berlin LLP before joining NET2000 Communications as a Senior Counsel. Tony continued their legal career at Covad Communications as an Assistant General Counsel.
In 2012, Hansel joined GTT as the SVP, Legal, where they were responsible for managing all legal, commercial transactional, corporate compliance, and government regulatory matters for the global network company. During their tenure, they oversaw the legal aspects of over 30 acquisitions, leading to significant revenue growth.
In 2021, Hansel became the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at EXA Infrastructure, a digital infrastructure provider. Tony played a crucial role in the spin-off of GTT, which was sold to I Squared Capital for $2.15 billion. In this role, they had overall responsibility for the corporate legal department.
Currently, Hansel serves as the General Counsel at Evocative, where they provide legal counsel and guidance to the company.
Tony Hansel received their undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1991. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the University of Virginia School of Law from 1993 to 1996, specializing in the field of Law.
