David Friend

David Friend is an accomplished scientific leader with extensive experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Currently serving as Chief Scientific Officer at Daré Bioscience, Inc. since June 2018 and at Evofem Biosciences Inc. since April 2015, David has been instrumental in innovating healthcare options for women, including the development of Amphora Contraceptive Gel. Previously, David held the position of Director of Product Development & Research and Associate Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School's CONRAD Program from 2007 to 2015, focusing on contraceptive and HIV prevention technologies. Earlier roles include Vice President of Research and Intellectual Property Director at Vyteris Inc. and Director of Pharmaceutical Development at MicroDose Technologies Inc. David earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis.
