Kwang-Chul Kwon

Kwang-Chul Kwon is an accomplished biologist with a focus on plant molecular biology and significant leadership experience in biotechnology. Currently serving as the CTO and Co-founder of Evolv since January 2024, Kwang-Chul previously held the position of Chief Scientific Officer at XiliX MaterialBio, where efforts were concentrated on chloroplast engineering technology and developing FDA-grade SOPs. Prior to this, Kwang-Chul was the CSO at Microsynbiotix, Ltd., specializing in algal chloroplast-based expression systems for oral fish vaccines. Kwang-Chul's academic background includes roles as a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania, where innovative transformation vector systems were developed, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Central Florida, focusing on transplastomic plants and their therapeutic applications. The foundational education includes a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology and a BS in Biology, both from Yonsei University.
