Joe Walton Jr., MBA has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Joe is currently working as a Regional Sales Director - Diagnostic Testing at Exagen Inc. since February 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Market Development Manager at the same company from April 2014 to January 2020.

Before joining Exagen Inc., Joe worked as a Cardiovascular Clinical Specialist at Aviir, Inc. from March 2013 to January 2014. At Aviir, they specialized in developing proprietary diagnostic tests for identifying high-risk patients for cardiac events. Joe was involved in the development of the MIRISK and MIRISK VP assessments, which provided objective risk scores for coronary heart disease (CHD) using protein biomarkers and clinical risk factors.

Joe also worked as a Business Development Manager at Inmar from March 2012 to March 2013. Inmar provided technology-driven solutions for retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers to manage reverse logistics, promotions, and revenue recovery in the supply chain.

Prior to that, Joe served as a Senior Cardiovascular Consultant at LipoScience from July 2006 to February 2012. During their tenure, they significantly increased sales and revenue by establishing Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy as a new standard of care for physicians in North Carolina and Virginia.

Before joining LipoScience, Joe worked as a Regional Consultant at Alphatec Spine from March 2005 to May 2006. Joe successfully sold spine implants to neurosurgeons and orthopedic surgeons at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital, NC and Holston Valley Medical Center, TN.

Joe began their career in pharmaceutical sales at Bayer Pharmaceuticals in October 2000. Joe sold products such as Avelox, Cipro, and Baycol to primary care physicians in the Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. Joe also played a role in getting Avelox on Forsyth Medical Center's hospital formulary, earning him Rookie of the Year in 2001 and President's Club in 2002.

Joe Walton Jr., MBA, completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh from 1990 to 1994. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializing in Business Management from Robert Morris University, attending from 1994 to 1997.
